DX Engineering IC-705 Amplifier Keying Adapter Cables

DX Engineering IC-705 amplifier keying adapter cables breakout the stereo 3.5mm SEND/ALC jack on the Icom IC-705 transceiver. This Y-adapter cable has one stereo male 3.5mm TRS plug and two independent RCA phono males. The Red phono plug center is connected to the 3.5mm plug tip, which is the SEND amplifier keying line that goes to ground when the radio PTT is keyed. This Red plug connects to the "Relay" or "PTT IN" connection on an amplifier. The White phono plug center is connected to the ring of the 3.5mm TRS, an ALC input provided for convenience. This connection isn't needed for a low-power amplifier and is seldom be used. An ALC output isn't provided on most intermediate amplifiers that would be used with the IC-705. Of course, the common shield of the 3.5mm plug goes via the shield of the cables to both RCA phono shields.

Yes, this item is a stereo audio Y-adapter (AUX Cable) that can connect a 3.5mm stereo source, like a mobile device, to the Aux, or other line level input of a stereo audio amplifier, not "phono." In some audio devices, this cable might provide "reversed" stereo, because the red might be Left Channel and white plug might be Right Channel, opposite from the way RCA phono patch cables are usually connected. Not a problem ... Rock On!
