Yaesu's patented ATAS™ Active Tuning Antenna System has been enhanced with the latest model: ATAS-120A. This is a unique mobile antenna that provides HF, VHF and UHF coverage with automatic motorized tuning.

They are typically attached to a vehicle hatch or trunk lip UHF mount (not supplied), also available from DX Engineering. The ATAS-120A antennas were designed for mobile use, however they can be adapted for base, or portable operation with the appropriate mount and a substantial counterpoise radial wire system.

Designed for use exclusively with Yaesu transceivers that support ATAS, microprocessor controlled voltages are sent on the coaxial cable to adjust the antenna radiator length for best SWR.

As with any HF, VHF and UHF mobile antenna, performance depends upon the grounding of the mount and bonding to the metal vehicle surfaces to create an optimal ground plane. Portable VHF and UHF operation is made possible with the addition of the optional Yaesu ATBK-100 Antenna Base Kit. This kit is not required, nor should it be used, for mobile operation.
