Digirig VOX PTT Smartphone Cables Interface smartphones and tablets directly to the transceivers handling PTT by tone (VOX) and audio levels attenuation.

Important!

This cable is experimental. It was tested on multiple smartphones and tablets with great results. It is possible however that some devices will not provide sufficient audio levels to trigger PTT.

Yaesu HTs use the same line for PTT and audio. This makes it possible for audible PTT tone to contaminate the payload. Use higher frequency PTT tone (10KHz+) to avoid this issue.

Usage Notes:

• Connect 3.5mm TRRS male jack into smartphone’s or tablet’s headphone jack

• Connect 3.5mm TRRS male jack of transceiver-specific Digirig audio cable to female socket of this adapter

• In audio settings set headphones volume to the maximum

• If PTT by tone setting is available in the digital modes app then set the tone to the right channel and audio payload to the left channel. The tone frequency works at 1KHz, but higher frequencies can improve (reduce) the PTT latency. Experiment to determine the best option.

• If audio prefix, suffix setting (tone on the payload channel before and/or after actual data) is available, start with about 300ms and see what works reliably without adding too much time to the transmission.
