This chart demonstrates how the RG-174 cable lengths used on a typical HF portable antenna has minimal effect on operations.

A typical portable antenna used with a 25 ft. cable has 0.73dB loss on 14MHz (20M band) which represents only 15% loss. An extreme example is with a 50 foot DXE-174VDB050 cable used on a 10 meter (28 MHz) antenna has just over 2dB attenuation. Even this power loss of 38% results in an imperceptible difference at the receiving end of a radio contact. Losses are insignificant with DXE-174V cable assemblies on HF bands, especially with 1.5, 3 and 6 ft. length jumpers between equipment, for receive RF connections and audiophile equipment.
