DX Engineering MBVE-5AE Series SAF-T-TILT™ Auto-Tune HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas

DX Engineering MBVE-5AE Series SAF-T-TILT™ Auto-Tune HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas are high performance, 80 through 10 meter vertical antenna systems. They are designed from the ground up to offer ease of use, reliability and performance! New design and materials technology are used throughout. The patented* and massive SAF-T-TILT™ 3/8 in. thick rugged aluminum base allows easy, safe tilt action without the unsafe removal of mounting hardware -- as with some competitors' antennas! Plus, these self-supporting HF vertical antennas, at just over 40 ft. in height, feature DX Engineering's exclusive new mounting brackets that secure the automatic antenna tuner above the tilt base for easy installation and access, away from potential damage by water and animals.

Using our MBVE-5AE Series SAF-T-TILT™ Auto-Tune ground-mounted vertical, you'll work DX as you never could with a low, horizontal dipole antenna! If you have a location that is limited by HOA or CC&R restrictions, where a tower isn't possible or if there are no trees for wire antenna supports, these slender, unobtrusive HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas can opens up a new world of HF operations.

Some of these antenna packages include the tuner and some include tuner mounting brackets and hardware only, for those who already own that tuner. All antenna packages include the antenna tuner mount, antenna element tubing with insulator, exclusive, patented* SAF-T-TILT™ Base Antenna Mount, stainless steel hardware and clamps.

This all-new series of MBVE-5AE SAF-T-TILT™ Auto-Tune HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas feature:

* Massive, patented* SAF-T-TILT™ base allows safe raising and lowering of antenna without removal of fastening hardware
* High strength Delrin® thermoplastic insulator that won't crack, splinter, peel or fail from exposure
* Rugged structural grade type 6063-T832 drawn aluminum tubing radiator - the best alloy for high-strength, long-lasting antenna applications plus an extended tubing, brackets and hardware for tuner mounting
* The fast taper antenna element provides the lowest wind resistance- very durable and attractive
* Free-standing to 92 mph wind speeds

Like any HF vertical, MBVE-5AE verticals require a good ground radial system. We highly recommend installing 32 radials, 65 ft. long are recommended. Fewer or shorter radials will work, but with some diminished results. A great ground-mounted vertical has the available space covered with 20 or more evenly spaced radials, each of any length from 15 to 65 ft. Do the work and you'll work the world! ™

For proper installation, additional materials are needed, but not supplied. You will need:

* Mounting pipe--steel pipe that has 2.0 in. O.D. with 0.25 in. wall thickness, 4 ft. long -- standard 1-1/2 in. galvanized water pipe (with its 1.9 in. OD) is fine
* Quick-Set or other concrete for mounting pipe installation
* Radial wire and wire lugs--must use 14-gauge, stranded copper wire with PVC insulation.
* Jet Lube SS-30 Anti-oxidant Anti-Seize –model JTL-12555 is highly recommended to ensure good connection between aluminum hardware and in-between aluminum tubing sections and for use on the threads of all the stainless steel hardware to prevent galling
