There's no question that when you place a microphone element inside of a clam shell, the result is a hollow, muffled sound. Amateur Radio operators have lived with this situation for decades. To solve this problem, Heil Sound installed a grill on the top of the microphone that detunes the internal resonance of the housing. They also developed a very special full-range microphone element for accurate speech reproduction. The result of their work is a phenomenal mobile-style hand microphone that doesn’t sound like the one that came with the radio!

The stylish and rugged hand-sized case features a fine textured grill, an internal microphone element windscreen and a positive-action Push-To-Talk switch (PTT). A well anchored, sturdy and very flexible coiled cable terminates with a 1/8 in. male connector for the microphone and a separate 1/4 in. male connector for the PTT control, the same as the Heil headsets. Therefore the Heil Sound AD-1 Series Headset Adapter Cables are used to mate these new HMM dynamic element and HMM-IC electret element microphones to the needs of your particular transceiver.
