What is so special about InnovAntenna FM Broadcast 88-108 MHz OP-DES Yagi Antennas? The acronym stands for “Opposing Phase Driven Element System” on which the ends of the driven element are angled backwards towards the reflector, parallel to the boom. Opposing phase in the ends of the driven element achieves an exceptionally clean directional pattern with much better side rejection than other designs. Plus, the OP-DES Yagi retains incredibly good front-to-back while optimizing gain over a wide frequency range, essential for 88 to 108 MHz coverage. The special OP-DES Yagi design achieves a low feed point impedance that allows direct connection of either 50 or 75 ohm coaxial cable, so the mounting complexity and signal loss of a transformer balun is eliminated. This is the FM antenna that will last and perform in all weather, without SWR or bandwidth shifting. All parasitic elements are made from 3/8 inch thick wall aluminum tube, while the drive section is 1/2 inch tapering to 3/8 inch. All elements are fully insulated from the boom held in place by high quality UV resistant, RF neutral insulators which are held to the boom with via marine grade stainless steel hardware. InnovAntennas FM Yagis are robustly constructed with the heavy-duty boom 1.25 inch square (31.75mm) aluminum tubing, for extremely long life and high reliability. The largest models use truss cables for the booms and all elements of the antenna are high quality aluminum tubing. The supplied mast clamp for all models accommodates masts up to 2 in. (50mm) OD (outside diameter).
