12 Volt Power, Inc. DC-to-DC LiFePO4 Battery Chargers are versatile DC-to-DC chargers specifically designed for charging 12V LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries using your vehicle’s 12V system. They feature a broad input voltage range of 8-36VDC, allowing for the use of various power sources and offers user-selectable charging amperage, making it suitable for batteries ranging from 3Ah to over 70Ah.
The VLT-DC-8A-LFP employs a 2-stage charging profile consisting of constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) phases. The LED indicator displays red during the CC phase and switches to green during the CV phase. The green LED remains on once the battery is fully charged. If a load is applied to the battery during or after charging, the charger may revert to the CC phase to supply higher amperages.
User-Selectable charging currents of 2A, 4A, or 8A, are adjustable via a selector dial. The Recommended charging currents based on battery capacity are as follows:
2A - Suitable for batteries 3Ah and larger
4A - Suitable for batteries 10Ah and larger
8A - Suitable for batteries 50Ah and larger
Note: For prolonged battery life, it is advisable to use a lower charging amperage to reduce cell degradation.
The VLT-DC-8A-LFP supports a wide input voltage range of 8-36VDC, making it compatible with 12V and 24V vehicle systems for charging 12V LiFePO4 batteries. Additionally, it can also be powered by a desktop power supply, or any other DC power source that provides between 8-36VDC. The VLT-DC-8A-LFP is air-cooled and can become hot while charging. This should be taken into consideration when choosing your location for installation.
Note: Direct connection to a solar panel or solar charge controller is not recommended due to variable power output.
Note: intended for use with Bioenno LiFePO4 or equivalent batteries. This charger should not be used with Flooded, AGM or GEL type batteries as it will overcharge them.
