The FT-3185RASP is a high-performance mobile transceiver that delivers a reliable 85W of TX power, with selectable options of 85W, 50W, 20W, and 5W. Its massive heatsink, which operates without a cooling fan, ensures consistent RF power output. The Super-DX and Audio Digital Signal Processor function enhances receiver sensitivity, improving the reception of weak signals. When the Super-DX key is pressed, the Audio Digital Signal Processing Unit (ASP) is activated, ensuring high-quality audio for weak signals and extending the communication range.

Key features of the FT-3185RASP include the Primary Memory Group (PMG) and the Customized Function List (CFL). The PMG allows up to five VFO or memory channel frequencies to be assigned, displaying their reception status in real-time with a bar graph. Users can switch between AUTO and MANUAL modes by pressing and holding the Main VFO knob. In AUTO mode, the received channel is shown, and transmission automatically moves to it. In MANUAL mode, transmission and reception remain on the manually selected channel, with the bar graph displaying activity on other PMG channels when no signal is present on the selected channel. Additionally, the CFL feature allows users to register up to nine frequently used functions from the 44 available menus for easy access.
