Alpha Delta Coaxial Switch Replacement Arc-Plugs®
Alpha Delta Coaxial Switch Replacement Arc-Plugs® are designed to reduce the hazards of lightning-induced or other high-voltage induced surges. When hit with a surge, they will short to ground, protecting your equipment, and will remain shorted and must be removed or replaced in order to continue operation. As with all lightning protection; these surge plugs will not prevent fire or damage caused by a direct lightning strike to an antenna, power lines, or other structure. Alpha Delta D4 Coaxial Switch Replacement Arc-Plugs® are direct replacements for Alpha Delta Coaxial Switch model Delta-2 and Delta-4 series switches. Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® Static Electricity Protectors
Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® Static Electricity Protectors are mounted in the DELTA-C Center Insulator and bleed off slow-rising static electricity charges by routing them harmlessly to ground, before they can enter the shack through the feedline. This method is far more effective than DC-grounded baluns or chokes, which can be "popped" by static charges. Dangerous static charges are developed from thunderstorms, high-wind driven snow, or desert sand. The static electricity generated by these forces has been measured to thousands of volts. They're so potent; they can puncture the dielectric of unterminated coax. Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® units are OEM replacements for the protectors located in the back of DELTA-C Center Insulators and are easily replaced by carefully removing the #10 stainless steel hardware used to attach the ends of the antenna wires. Please note the assembly order of your washers, lock washers, wires, nuts, and carefully re-assemble them in the same order after replacing the static electricity protector cartridge.
