West Mountain Radio N8XJK Super Booster
West Mountain Radio has collaborated with N8XJK to bring back the popular TG Electronics Booster! This unit will help you get the most life out of your battery. This model is an improvement on a design that has been widely used in Amateur radio for more than 15 years. The N8XJK Super Booster was specially designed for use with a radio. When the voltage from a battery drops, the Super Booster brings it up to a level that allows for optimal transmit. The output level can be set by a trimmer pot to any value up to 15V. The advantage of using the Super Booster is to compensate for the fact that lead acid battery is rated in Amp-Hours for use down to 10.5V. However, radios require at least 11.7V to transmit. The Super Booster lets you use the extra one-third of amp-hours in the battery that wouldn't otherwise be available. For example, when doing 100W SSB with a 74AH battery (car size) allows for 10 hours continuous transmit. When using the Super Booster, the result is at least 15 hours of continuous transmit. Even at the last amp-hour of the battery's life, there is 10.5V and at least 11.7V to the radio. Transmitters tend to be more efficient at higher voltages, therefore there is additional savings by using, for example, 14.5V. The Booster Remote control/monitor unit, sold separately, is a compact remote head that monitors input/output voltage, as well as error conditions like over-voltage and overheating. Super Booster readily accommodates the remote control or to connect units in parallel to achieve 80A or 120A. Capabilities of the West Mountain Radio N8XJK Super Booster: - High Power - Draws up to 40A from the battery - Connect units in parallel for 80A and 120A - Quiet, Thermally Controlled Fan - Allows for operation at max current continuously - Adjustable RF Enable Delay - When RF input is used provides smooth transmissions - Low voltage shut-off with LED indicator - Extremely low RFI - Switch for Boost, No Boost, or Auto when RF detected

West Mountain Radio Super PWRgate Battery Backup Systems
West Mountain Radio Super PWRgate Battery Backup Systems are built to handle the job, with two 80 ampere Schottky diodes configured as an OR-Gate, they isolate and switch your equipment between power supply and battery operation. Capable of safely handling a continuous 40 amperes on almost any 12 Vdc power supply and battery combination, they make a true solid-state UPS (uninterruptible power supply). With a built-in four-stage, high-power, current limit selectable smart battery charger, Super PWRgate Battery Backup Systems are ideal for the ham shack, emergency communications systems (EmComm), or anywhere DC power is crucial. Connected equipment instantly and automatically switches to battery power during an AC power blackout or power supply failure. Super PWRgate units eliminate the danger of connecting a power supply directly across a battery, which can damage many power supplies. Using your power supply and a PWRgate also avoids introducing hum and RF interference that is caused by most lead-acid battery chargers. Furthermore, most lead-acid battery chargers are designed for flooded lead-acid marine or automotive batteries, and are inappropriate for charging sealed lead-acid gel cells and AGM type batteries. Featuring selectable current rates of 1, 4, 7 or 10 amperes to match your battery's rating, these units can extend the life span of these types of batteries compared to using a standard car battery charger. Super PWRgate units are very useful in the ham shack, and even more useful in a repeater installation. Communication equipment will remain operative during AC power blackouts and power supply failures. Power supplies and batteries can be swapped out while equipment continues to be powered and without glitches. Additionally, with a power supply a PWRgate may be used solely as a permanently installed battery charger or configured to run a radio station directly from the battery. Note: For additional product information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab. West Mountain Radio Super PWRgate Battery Backup Systems are always ready for your DC powered equipment. Get yours here…at DX Engineering!

West Mountain Radio PWRguard Plus DC Protectors
West Mountain Radio PWRguard Plus DC Protectors are solid-state series switches that automatically detect and disconnect when a DC power system fault occurs, including over-voltage, under-voltage and short circuit conditions. Designed specifically to protect your radio, power supply and battery backup from damage, PWRguard Plus instantly turns off if the DC line exceeds 15 volts or drops below 11 volts for more than 3 seconds, and automatically or manually reset when the line returns to 13 volts or above. Momentary voltage dips below 11 volts are ignored to prevent false tripping while transmitting. PWRguard Plus DC Protectors have Powerpole connectors for input and output and handle 30 amperes continuous duty and 40 amp peaks and feature a soft turn-on solid-state circuit with no relay contact bounce, to protect equipment from in-rush current and spikes. LEDs indicate system conditions and a mutable piezo buzzer sounds every minute when PWRguard Plus turns the DC power off due to a system problem. In addition to protecting your equipment, battery and power supply from self-inflicted trouble, PWRguard Plus DC Protectors also have a sense input connection inside that can be wired to a switch, contact closure or can be triggered by a 3 to 5 volt DC. This means, PWRguard Plus can also be controlled with a Key Locking Switch to prevent radio operation during down time, system or antenna repairs, cut power based on input from a water or a heat sensor, or turn power on or off with a photo-electric circuit or other low current sensor switch; only your imagination can limit the useful applications for the PWRguard Plus! Note: For additional product information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab. Ideal for radio communications systems that rely on DC power, West Mountain Radio PWRguard Plus DC Protectors are a very useful addition to almost any 12 Volt DC powered system. West Mountain Radio ISOpwr+ Auxiliary Battery Isolators
West Mountain Radio ISOpwr+ Auxiliary Battery Isolators protect the primary battery while supplying power to the "spare" battery and equipment. With an ISOpwr+ isolator, the vehicle battery will never be drained by leaving the equipment turned on, so the vehicle will always start! ISOpwr+ Isolators are automatic solid-state ON-OFF switches, without relays, that charge an auxiliary battery and run mobile radio equipment, powered by the vehicle alternator when the car is running. The ISOpwr+ turns ON when the car is running and the line is over 13.3 volts. The ISOpwr+ turns OFF when the alternator is not running and the vehicle battery has fallen below 12.6 volts, but equipment will continue to run from the auxiliary battery. ISOpwr+ Auxiliary Battery Isolators work safely with all types of batteries including 12-volt standard Lead-Acid, Flooded Lead Acid, Gelled and AGM. They are ideal for use in all vehicles utilizing an auxiliary battery, for many diverse purposes: Radio Command mobile set ups for ARES, RACES, FEMA; contest VHF/UHF rovers; medium powered Amateur Radio equipment; re-charging stations for electric model airplanes, boats and cars; DC powered TVs or stereos in RVs and campers, and so much more! ISOpwr+ isolators may be used without an auxiliary battery, as a power interrupt, to automatically turn on a transceiver or other device only when the car is running. In this battery saving application, the radio will turn off automatically after a short delay when the vehicle ignition is turned off, so you won't have to remember to turn off the transceiver. ISOpwr+ features a USB port for setting operating thresholds and for monitoring and has a smaller and lighter weight enclosure. West Mountain Radio ISOpwr+ Auxiliary Battery Isolator Specifications: Operating Voltage: 20 V maximum Quiescent Current: Less than 5 mA Maximum Current: 40 A Voltage Drop: 0.25 V at 1A, diode drop Series Resistance: 0.01 ohms maximum Switch Time-Constant: 5 seconds Turn ON Threshold: 13.3 Vdc (+/- 0.1 V) Turn OFF Threshold: 12.6 Vdc (+/- 0.1 V) Green LED: Indicates the ISOpwr+ output is ON Size: 4.50 x 3.40 x 1.40 in, 11.4 x 8.6 x 3.5 cm Weight: 0.9 lbs., 0.4 kg Connectors: Powerpoles Enclosure: Heatsink, black anodized aluminum, painted aluminum cover Note: For additional product information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab.
