DX Commander Venture HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas are designed for portable operation. The design is built on the proven success of other DX Commander antennas but optimized for portable operation. Efficiently resonant on 40, 20 and 15 meters, the DX Commander Venture is designed for some of the most popular bands for portable operation. Using the same principals as a fan dipole, with several vertical wire elements of various resonant lengths attached to a common feedpoint. The design is built on the proven success of other DX Commander antennas but optimized for portable operation. Efficiently resonant on 40, 20 and 15 meters, the DX Commander Venture is designed for some of the most popular bands for portable operation. Using the same principals as a fan dipole, with several vertical wire elements of various resonant lengths attached to a common feedpoint. The Wire elements and any supporting ropes are arranged on spacer plates with "speed slots" around the non-conductive fiberglass mast. When a proper radial system is attached to the radial plate, the Venture will achieve quarter-wave vertical performance with natural resonance and low SWR on the bands it's configured for with no antenna tuner required. Band hopping DXing and simultaneous multi-band multiplex operations are supported. The Venture is rated at 1500W SSB/CW, 400W FT8 and other digital modes.
The Venture antenna is only 23 feet (7 m) so setup is a cinch in the field. SWR bandwidth is typically 300 kHz on the bands the antenna is cut for. The Venture, while being designed for 40, 20 and 15 meters, can be used on 10 and 6 meters with an antenna tuner.
DX Commander Venture Features and Specifications:
Ground Post: Supplied with a Fiberglass Ground post.
Alloy Plates: Aircraft quality 5251 alloy, laser cut in England before deburring to give that "hammered" look, which eliminates sharp edges and provides a nice finish.
Spreader Plates: Marine-grade high-density polyethylene sheet material from USA, charcoal-gray, UV and environmentally stabilized to withstand the harshest of marine and high RF conditions. Spreader Plates are machine cut in England to DX Commander specifications.
Shock Cord: Marine Grade shock-cord, with a UV and RF stable Dyneema woven exterior.
Hardware: Kit includes Stainless Steel bolts, wing nuts, and spade connectors.
Coaxial Connector: UHF Female SO-239 coaxial connector, nickel plated brass with PTFE dielectric.
Fiberglass Poles: Made to DX Commander specifications in a spiral wound fiber, high-quality epoxy and paint finish.
DX10 Wire: Made in England for DX Commander, DX10 wire has an outstanding reputation for both strength and in particular, extreme flexibility. The insulation is "arctic grade" and still flexible down to -40° F. Originally designed for military use, this insulation is particularly strong but highly flexible and the stranded annealed copper wire is approximately 19 AWG and is made from 24 strands of 0.008 in. (0.2mm) wire.
All DX Commander Venture Antenna Kits come with everything you need (except the patio):
• Rapide2 Mast – 23 ft. (7m) Extended Height
• Supplied with a 1.50 in. (38mm) Fiberglass Ground Post
• The DX Commander Ground Plate – 0.128 in. (3mm) thick laser cut 5251 alloy, with the hole for the included SO-239 assembly and 6 pre-drilled holes for the ground radials. Use up to 4 wires per connector and you can double up on connectors to achieve 48 radials total.
• The Driven Plate – 0.128 in. (3mm) thick with pre-drilled holes for the three bands that the antenna is cut for.
• The Venture kit comes with 3 spreader plates with speed slots to help facilitate setup in the field. One of the spreader plates has three holes to attach guy ropes to.
• 328 ft. (100m) of DX10 Antenna Wire – cut all the elements first, then cut radials with the remaining wire.
